I am currently working on adding sites on the forum to metal detect. This will be for members who would be willing to donate to help support the cost of maintaining the forum. I am asking for a $25 dollar donation to get access to great sites that were found using 1800's maps and then over-laying them onto google earth. Each site has coordinates and at this time I am only adding sites where the structure is gone and most are located in fields or wooded areas. You can ask guys like Teverly, myself and others about field hunting and most would agree it is some of the best sites left to hunt. Usually on a typical field hunt where a house once stood you do not find the quantity of coins you would hunting new places but usually the quality is amazing. Last year in one field I managed to find a 1795 Spanish Half Reale and a 1807 Large cent, this is just  a few of many great coins I found hunting these old homesteads, not to mention some of the great relics and buttons I found.

I will be adding sites to the list on a regular and yearly basis. In doing my research I would say each county probably has roughly 1,000 of these places that are no longer standing so I think you can see there is more than enough for everyone and to last for a long time.

Things you need to know.

The sites are listed on the forum under MEMBERS area. You can not see it unless your a member.

I DO NOT HAVE PERMISSION FOR ANY OF THESE SITES!! You will have to contact the owner for permission. With that said, It is usually much easier to get permission hunting fields than anywhere else, most farmers do not care if your in the field when crops are down but once again, YOUR RESPONSIBLE FOR GETTING PERMISSION!

In most cases you will need a GPS. The coordinates are listed for each site, all you need is a decent GPS unit and you can upload the coordinates

You will need access to an online map that will accept coordinates so you can see the vicinity it is in. I highly recommend Google Earth, it is a Free downlaod

If using Google earth you might have to change how the coordinates are displayed. This is very easy to do, simply go to TOOLS and then OPTIONS and you can change it to match the coordinates your GPS unit uses.

The easiest way to find out who owns property is by going to the County Auditors office and finding out who owns the property, that is if they dont have that online, many counties have all that information online including the property address, owners name, owners address etc.
